Working Abroad and Placement Fee

In applying for an overseas job, one of the things that an applicant is especially curious about is the placement fee. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) wants to know how much is it, the terms of payment available, etc. To help aspiring OFWs, here are just some of the frequently asked questions about placemen fee:

What is placement fee and why do I have to pay for it. The business of sending workers overseas is not an easy task. Recruitment agencies are responsible for each and every Filipino worker that they deploy. For this reason, the POEA Rules and Regulations allows agencies to collect placement fees from applicants.

Are all overseas applicants required to pay a placement fee? Not all applicants are required to pay placement fee. It became possible when their country of destination prohibits collection of placement fees.

How much should the placement fee be? POEA-licensed agencies are allowed to collect placement fee which is equivalent to the one month salary of the worker abroad. There are some countries though like Taiwan where placement fee can be higher than the workers one- month salary because they allow charging of broker’s fees.

When shold one pay p. Placement fee can only be collected if the applicant is already selected by the employer and upon signing of employment contract

Why is it that some agencies can offer a no-placement fee policy?  Some agencies can afford not to collect placement fees because they have found foreign employers who are willing to shoulder the placement fees of applicants.

What are the agencies that offer a no placement fee policy? These are some POEA-licensed agencies that has a no-placement fee policy:

Kissimmee: Perfect Vacation Destination in Florida

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Kissimmee Tourism. All opinions are 100% mine.

America is one of the countries where overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) such as nurses, teachers, IT specialists, caregivers, hotel workers etc. are needed. One US state that is a favorite destination of OFWs is Florida. And for OFWs who happen to be in Florida or near that area, a must see place to visit there is the city of Kissimmee.

I find the name of the city unique and interesting because it sounds like the term, kiss me. It sounds like a fun place and I hope my family and I would get the chance to visit it someday. Located in the heart of Florida and near Orlando, it is a perfect venue for a great vacation.

I would definitely recommend this to my sister who is a nurse and is currently working and living with her family in America. She wants us to have a great US vacation someday and if that time comes, Kissimmee would be one of our destinations. We would sure love to visit theme parks there such as Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

I would love to stay at the Celebration Suites Hotel because it seems to be family- friendly and it is near the Disney park. For some nature sight seeing, we would also love to try the ultimate airboat ride across the Florida Everglades. It would be a one of a kind experience to see exotic birds and alligators while relaxing. We can also try golfing and hiking.

So for those planning a vacation, visit Kissimmee now! Click here if you want to know more about Kissimmee and why it’s a perfect vacation destination.

Support A Promo That Gives Free Laptop To Schools

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.
Laptop1
The gift of a good education is one of the best things a parent can give his or her children. A parent aiming for a good education for their children is doing a good deed not only for the child but for the whole society as well. That is why I think all of us should support any cause or event whose result would ultimately be something that would benefit schools and improve the quality of education.

A company in the US, Charter has an ongoing laptop-a-day giveaway. This promo would give 50 new laptops to two lucky schools. The laptops at stake are Lenovo G555's with a 15.6" screen, 160GB drive and 3GB ram. It also comes with a Targus bag. How I wish there would also be promos like these in the Philippines because many schools really need these laptops

They are a generous company because this is not the first time that they are doing a promo like this. In their previous promos, some of the things they have given away are hybrid car, a Camaro, an HDTV-A-Day for an entire month, free laptops, XBox 360's and more.

To support this promo, just nominate your favorite schools. To increase their chance to win 50 new laptops, just visit http://www.charter.com/laptop and register to be able to vote. The page would also show you the promo mechanics, a list of finalists, the specs of the laptops, etc. The voting started last Aug. 16 and would go on until Sept. 20. Winners will be announced on Sept. 27th. It is open for USA residents , 18 years old and above.

Charter also has something for their customers. All who will register at their site also gives one a chance to be a proud owner of a Lenovo laptop. And All who will avail any of their service automatically gets the chance to win up to USD300 cashback. And would you believe that purchase is not even required because those who want to join but doesn’t order anything from Charter can just register online to be included in the promo. To show support of this promos, you can also join fan page of Charter on Facebook

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) go out of the country to work. Inspired with the dream to give their family a better future, they work hard and endure being away from their families for a long period of time. But Filipinos, we know how to find happiness in everything we do. So Filipinos abroad always find time to have a good time and if they can, explore the place where they are working.

That is why I want to share this news to Filipinos in America who are in the state of Missouri or near that area who wants to relax by spending a weekend in a luxury hotel. Labor Department Wants Intense Language Training For Nurses and Caregivers Bound To Japan

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz said the intensified language training for Japan-bound nurses and caregivers will boost the workers’ chances of passing the difficult licensure examinations given by the host country for foreign medical workers.
Baldoz recalled that recent reports indicated only 1.2 percent of foreign applicants have passed the exams and that no foreign applicant passed last year’s exams due to the difficulty of the examinees to understand kanji and technical terms written in Japanese.
To remedy the problem, Baldoz sought the recommendations of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Tokyo, Japan to address the problem and came up with a number of solutions.
