POEA Advisory for OFWs Bound to Egypt

OFWs who intend to work in Egypt should make sure that they have a valid work visa before departure - this is the reminder of POEA Chief, Hans Leo Cacdac.

According to POEA chief, the Philippine Embassy in Cairo reported that the Passports, Emigration and Nationality Administration Office of Egypt now requires all entering foreigners who wish to work in Egypt to hold a valid working permit.

The DFA said that a tourist visa issued by the Egyptian Embassy in Manila or any country cannot be converted into work permit upon arrival in Egypt. The new rule hopes to control human trafficking and limit the number of tourist workers in Egypt, thus protecting the jobs of Egyptian nationals.
